Robbery

There are many ways that a person could be charged with robbery, depending on the seriousness of the crime. Robbing a bank at gunpoint is a serious offense, whereas stealing someone’s computer may not be as serious. What is a robbery?

When a person attempts to take – or takes – something that is of value from another individual using violence or threatening to use violence, this is considered robbery. If you threaten someone on the streets with a baseball bat and demand money or personal property, that is still considered robbery.   The essential elements are theft plus the use of or threat of assaultive behavior.
